I’m very pleased to announce the republication in book form of my translation of select works by St. Dimitry of Rostov. I formerly had a post on my blog with a PDF version, entitled “Instruction on the Path of Virtue.” I have spent a bit of time revising and editing it for publication in print once again. I have also retitled it, “Spiritual Guidance on the Christian Path.” This publication also includes five chapters on reason and knowledge from St. Dimitry’s work called “The Spiritual Alphabet.” Three of these chapters I have already made available on my blog, the last two will only be available in print. With the republication of St. Dimitry’s work, I have removed the PDF copy from my blog.

At current, this book is only available on Amazon (link below). I am pretty much a one man band, and, for better or worse, Amazon has the best marketing reach at current for someone in my position. (This is why I have not put many articles on my blog of late, much of my energy was going towards this publication effort, needless to say my October was very busy too.) My hope is to start working on the sermons on the Div. Liturgy by St. Seraphim (Zvezdenski) and get them ready and formatted for publication. With them I am starting from square one, that is with the book formatting process. Years ago I had already completed this process for St. Dimitry’s work, and so it was much easier to tune it a little and republish it.

St. Dimitry of Rostov is one of the great church fathers of Orthodoxy in Rus’. My translation of his works is one of the only translations available in English. There is a book in English that contains more of his devotional writings, my translation contains his practical instructions and teachings on Christian living. I believe the five chapters on reason and knowledge are vital for us to day, the proper understanding of true reason is much needed.
